New Employee Chairman Kang Review, A Weekend Drama That Turned Out More Interesting Than Expected
At first, I just turned it on casually.
Honestly, at the beginning, only familiar actors like Son Hyun-joo caught my attention, but as I kept watching, I noticed there were quite a few rookie actors too.
And I was genuinely surprised by how good their acting was.
Their natural performances made everything feel more realistic, and it helped me get even more immersed in the story.
It made me realize why the drama has been getting such good reactions lately.
Just by the title, it sounded like an ordinary office drama, but from the very start, the chairman gets into an accident and ends up in the body of a young soccer player, which felt a little absurd at first.
Honestly, in the beginning, I kept thinking, “What even is this?” but somehow I couldn’t stop watching.
In episodes 1 to 2, Chairman Kang Yong-ho enters his own company as a new employee, and that’s where the real story begins.
It was pretty interesting to watch him realize how many things he didn’t know about his own company.
Seeing the workplace from the bottom instead of from the top made everything feel completely different, and that part left a strong impression on me.
Around episodes 3 to 5, the mood started to shift little by little.
His daughter, Kang Jae-kyung, wasn’t just someone with ambition anymore — she started actively moving to take over the company, and the people around her began revealing their true intentions one by one.
From that point on, it stopped feeling like simple comedy and the tension of a power struggle really kicked in.
In episodes 6 to 8, hidden slush funds, manipulated accounts, and secret deals started coming out one by one, which made the drama even more immersive.
What stood out the most was how Kang Yong-ho, once the chairman, began reflecting on his own management style from the past.
It wasn’t just about exposing bad people — it also showed his process of looking back at himself, which made the story feel much heavier and deeper.
By episodes 9 to 10, the biggest twist came out.
It was revealed that his original body, which everyone thought was dead, was actually still alive.
From there, the story expanded even more, and it became hard to predict who would survive until the end.
What I felt while watching was that it started off light and funny, but gradually became darker and more serious.
Son Hyun-joo’s acting really holds the center together, and with the rookie actors supporting him without any weak spots, the whole story feels even more solid.
At first, I didn’t expect much from it, but now it has become a drama I find myself waiting for every weekend.
I’m really curious to see how the remaining episodes will end.
